5 randomly selected cards (with envelopes) made by adults with autism. Purchased cards will be available for pick up at the Adult Abilities Center, mailed to purchaser, or pick up at the golf tournament at Thanksgiving Point. Please email Jessica Kerr - ourworld.jessicakerr@yahoo.com upon purchase.
I once heard a man say his biggest wish was to live one day longer than his disabled son. The ultimate dread for us, and for every parent of a special needs adult, is no one will love and take care of him like we do. What will he do after he turns 22" (the age in which federally mandated services cease). Who will care for him when we're gone? Where will his safe shelter be? It's my job to set up the world and community for him to be successful.
The adults who did the artwork for these cards attend the Adult Ability Center and require significant supports. They are not able to live independently or have full time employment. Traditionally, these folks get babysat, but not on our watch! By purchasing these cards, you are empowering an adult with autism to learn employment and life skills. Independence equals opportunity, and the more independence my son learns, the better quality of life he will have.
Thank you for supporting the Autism Council of Utah, and individuals and families affected by autism in Utah.
